COURSE TUITION

This page will assist you in calculating your personal tuition.

The principle of a stepped scale

The tuition for our group courses is determined on a stepped scale, based on a principle of meaningful exchange with the teacher (known in India as Guru Dakshina).

Though not everyone on a course pays the same amount, everyone makes a financial commitment in alignment with their circumstances. This makes the course accessible to people with different means. At the same time, everyone makes a proportional commitment and joins the course with a similar dedication.

Paying in installments

We offer the opportunity to pay your course fee in installments over five or ten months. In this way, you can begin right away and take care of the payments in a way that fits your budget. There is no additional fee or interest charged for this.

Volunteer Service Program

Your course fee may also be offset by contributing service with an accredited, local non-profit organization - more info here.

How do I calculate?

To determine the correct amount for you, please see which of the descriptions below best fits your situation. Hunter is happy to advise you further as needed.

I work in full-time, paid employment.

Your course fee is based on your annual earnings. Please use this stepped scale:

  • earning more than $150,000: $1,500
  • earning between $120,000 – $150,000: $1,250
  • earning between $90,000 – $120,000: $1,000
  • earning between $60,000 – $90,000: $750
  • earning less than $60,000: $500

I don't have a regular, full-time job, but I support myself. (Contract work, freelance, etc.)

You can look at your total earnings for the last 12 months, or what you anticipate earning in this calendar year. If your earnings vary significantly from year to year then take an average of the last few years. Then please use this stepped scale:

  • earning more than $150,000: $1,500
  • earning between $120,000 – $150,000: $1,250
  • earning between $90,000 – $120,000: $1,000
  • earning between $60,000 – $90,000: $750
  • earning less than $60,000: $500

I’m an entrepreneur/ starting a business, and I'm not taking a full salary right now.

If you’re not paying yourself a salary, then calculate your course fee based on your average weekly expenses including housing, utilities, food, entertainment and travel. Use the scale below to find the amount that is closest to your calculation of your average weekly expenses. This amount is your course fee.

  • $1,500
  • $1,250
  • $1,000
  • $750
  • $500

I'm financially supported by my partner. (Stay-at-home parent, part-time work, etc.)

Calculate the yearly earnings for your household (annual earnings for the main earner, plus any part-time earnings or additional income sources.) Divide this total amount by two. Then please use that figure in the stepped scale:

  • earning more than $150,000: $1,500
  • earning between $120,000 – $150,000: $1,250
  • earning between $90,000 – $120,000: $1,000
  • earning between $60,000 – $90,000: $750
  • earning less than $60,000: $500

I'm taking some time off work for personal reasons. (Gardening leave, sabbatical, etc.)

You calculate your fee based on your annual earnings for the last 12 months you were working. Then please use this stepped scale:

  • earning more than $150,000: $1,500
  • earning between $120,000 – $150,000: $1,250
  • earning between $90,000 – $120,000: $1,000
  • earning between $60,000 – $90,000: $750
  • earning less than $60,000: $500

We're a couple, learning together, and only one of us works full-time.

The person in full-time earnings calculates their fee using the scale below. Their partner’s course fee is 50% of this fee (subject to minimum).

  • earning more than $150,000: $1,500
  • earning between $120,000 – $150,000: $1,250
  • earning between $90,000 – $120,000: $1,000
  • earning between $60,000 – $90,000: $750
  • earning less than $60,000: $500

I’m single, am not working full-time, and am financially supported (eg receiving divorce payments).

Add up your yearly incomings. Then use that figure in the stepped scale below:

  • earning more than $150,000: $1,500
  • earning between $120,000 – $150,000: $1,250
  • earning between $90,000 – $120,000: $1,000
  • earning between $60,000 – $90,000: $750
  • earning less than $60,000: $500

I am unemployed and not supported by another person. I receive government unemployment benefit.

I'm a full-time university undergraduate, under 25.
